Costume show and big birthday party at TARA Tots

The warm up

As the clock struck 6 in the evening and the sun slowly went down over a tiring Delhi city, we saw that it was not our young Tots in the TARA Tots playroom, but the teenagers and adults, sitting on chairs or on the floor along the wall. The TARA Girls and even some TARA Boys had come for the occasion. There was a feeling of festivity and excitement in the air. All the girls were chatting together; while Dyana, Kamal and Simran were laughing at Valentine's stories. Priya, who was on the lookout, grabbed her camera, put her finger on the shutter button, and was ready to immortalize every moment of the evening. Impatiently, we waited.

Stage entrance

Suddenly, everything stopped. Guests no longer spoke, instead tried to figure out what is going on. All eyes were on the entrance. Our Tots finally showed up. From the youngest to the oldest, everybody stood in front of us, proud of his or her costume, wisely chosen for the occasion. We can hear reactions from the public. Some yelled "Oh!", others shouted "Ah!", but most of us agreed to say "Oh my God, they are so lovely! ». Let’s be honest, they pulled out all the stops. Whether they were dressed in traditional clothing from different parts of India or wearing the disguise of their favourite animal, none of them evokes a sense of no reaction, they are all beautiful.

The show

It was then that Vaishnavi moved forward, with a determined step. Confidently, she declared the opening speech of the ceremony. Very refined, she wore a pink tunic and a golden head cloth. Then, like in the spirit of the Oscar ceremony, Fayyum and Dinesh joined her to enrich the welcome speech. They had barely finished when everyone started to applaud. With a few seconds left to set up, the show begins. Now it was time for the fashion show, made in TARA Tots!

Beginning with the smallest kids, Shadab, who was dressed as a little green frog, and Ganesha, like a rabbit, opened the show. Shy but extremely proud to open the parade in front of so many grown-ups, both of them sketched adorable smiles. Not even Bambi would have competed with them!

Then, Kanchan, shyer than the others, followed the walk in a beautiful white and gold dress. This is followed by an explosion of colours: Abida with her blue top and purple trouser, Sameer wearing a green kurta or Soriful daring a leopard overalls covering his topaz outfit. We can even see some French classics with Shikha and her white dress with pink flowers. We no longer knew where to focus as our attention was caught by so many colors. It was pure magic.

However, as soon as the first show ended, another show, much more technical and requiring the agility of our competitors, was about to begin. Lined up under a thread from which a dozen of candies hung, the youngest Tots had to grab the candies with their mouths, without using their hands. They screamed with excitement, while the whole room encouraged them. On the edge of exhaustion, the children managed to have their reward. We had nevertheless noted the achievements of those who have succeeded in doing so without their hands...

The party

After effort came comfort. Guests and children all together finally savoured their dinner. The sweet dessert was a real success! There was not a crumb left over.

All of a sudden, we heard music, which meant TARA's magic could operate. Everyone started dancing. Sultan, Sarthak and Shalu, very elegant in their white kurta embroidered with blue or gold, set the dance floor on fire. Naksh, jumping from chair to chair, was hysterical. TARA Tots, Boys, Girls, the staff and all the guests danced and celebrated 7 years of happiness at TARA Tots. The evening was at its height.

Finally, things calmed down and the excitement subsided. The children slowly started getting tired and the older ones stopped dancing. Priya grabbed her camera and asked the whole Tots family, children and adults to gather for a moment. For a flash of light, everyone smiled and agreed that this picture immortalized 7 years of work and joy in this
