New Wave of COVID- 19 in India

TARA Boys and TARA Girls are undergoing a quarantine period, as few children and staff have tested positive. They all are recovering well as close monitoring of their health is being done by the respective teams. Despite the difficult phase, staff of both the homes has handled the situation with utmost calmness and preparedness. The children in TARA Tots are doing well and the team is giving their best to make sure that the children continue to remain safe. The dedication shown by the managers, officers and our operational staff in these tough times is highly commendable.

On the other hand, our Outreach Centre, has once again temporarily shut down amidst the rising number of cases in Delhi. It has now become our utmost responsibility that the closure of the centre does not hamper the academic progress that the children have made in the last year. To ensure that they don’t fall back, the team of TARA Outreach Centre has made batches of children and providing them with worksheets with regular follow ups to help the children with their doubts and be accessible to them on call for any kind of issues that they may face at home.

A leader is identified in each group, whose responsibility is to make sure that the children who do not have access to phones are receiving the worksheets as well. This gives them a sense of teamwork, makes them accountable and also learn leadership qualities. Apart from this, the team is conducting community visits once a week, to give classes to the children, and conduct home visits to assess the socio-economic conditions of the family.

Since the pandemic, TARA has gone through unforeseen events and managed to overcome the challenges. Even though, the start to this year has been difficult for everyone, we truly believe in our mission and our work which makes us keep moving forward with each other’s support.
